I’ve been working professionally with 360 video Since 2016. I first discovered VR at the 2015 Sheffield documentary festival and was fascinated by the perception shifts while watching these immersive experiences. It reminded me of lucid dreaming. I have spent the time since exploring the medium and shooting with many different 360 cameras on numerous different projects and in many different parts of the world. Immersive 360 video reminds me of what I imagine the early days of cinema to have been like when the language of film was forming by trial and error. 360 VR is in a similar phase of evolution. With influences from film, theatre, documentary and gaming the medium is becoming a unique form of interactive reality and storytelling. I feel grateful to be able to help shape that. My current role as head of immersive production at Digital Self is incorporating this medium into the wider field of Web3360
